Dave Perkins started in the radio industry in 1970 in Western Australia where he worked in capital city radio both on air and in management before shifting to Queensland in 1982 where he also had roles in management and talk-back radio . Dave has had an enduring link with 4MK-FM since late 1989 when he joined the station as General Manager. In those days, 4MK was on the AM band and the only commercial radio station in Mackay. In 1992, he left the management position at the station to start his own advertising agency, but has continued on air to the present day, at times working in full time roles, but for most of the time as the host of the Saturday morning program from 6am to noon. 15 years down the track, Dave and wife Tracy sold their advertising agency in March this year to allow Dave to devote more time to his position as a councillor on Mackay City Council. Dave is very heavily involved in his community, holding positions in a large number of groups and organisations.
